Using Trust Library Search to Find Answers and Content in SafeBase

Overview

The Trust Library Search feature in SafeBase allows organization users to efficiently find content from an organization’s Trust Library and generate AI-powered answers to specific questions. This feature is designed to support internal users working in the SafeBase app and is distinct from the public-facing Trust Center search.

Trust Library Search Uses

With Trust Library Search, users can:

  • Find content: Retrieve relevant documents, Knowledge Base entries, Trust Center updates, Trust Items, and more from the organization's Trust Library.

  • Generate answers: Use generative AI to concisely answer a one-off question backed by source content.

How to Use Trust Library Search

Navigate to Trust Library Search

  • Log in to SafeBase

  • Go to the Trust Library Search page from the navigation menu

Perform a Semantic Search

  • Enter a query in the search bar and press Enter or click Search

  • SafeBase will return a list of relevant search results from the Trust Library

  • Content types in results may include:

    • Documents

    • Knowledge Base entries

    • Trust Center content and updates

    • Drata-synced controls and analyzed facts

  • Click on a result to:

    • Preview its contents

    • Explore metadata

    • Navigate directly to the source (if the user has permission)

Note: The visibility of content in search results matches the role and access level of the member in SafeBase. If the user can’t view certain content in the app, it won’t appear in the search results.


Using Generative Search (AI-Powered Answers)

Once the user has run a semantic search, they can also generate a direct answer to the question:

  • Click on the prompt that says “Ask SafeBase AI <your question>”

  • SafeBase AI will use the same query and generate a contextual answer

  • The user can:

    • View the answer

    • Copy the answer to paste it elsewhere (e.g., in a questionnaire or email)

    • Review the source content used to generate the answer


Important Notes for Multi-Product Organizations

  • Semantic search supports results from all products by default.

    • Users can filter by specific products if needed.

  • Generative answers are limited to a single product at a time.

    • Select the appropriate product before clicking “Ask AI”.


Using Trust Library Search In Slack

If an organization is utilizing the SafeBase Slack integration, organization members can get AI-generated answers from SafeBase directly in Slack using the /safebase-ask-ai command.

To receive an answer to a question in Slack:

  • Make sure that the SafeBase <> Slack integration is enabled and set up for the organization.

  • Type /safebase-ask-ai into Slack from a DM or channel and type a question.

    • Click send to submit the question

  • Optional step for multi-product organizations only: the Slackbot will ask which product the question is asking about. Select one using the dropdown list

The Slackbot will respond with an answer to the question

  • Users can:

    • Click the View in Trust Library Link to go see the generated result in SafeBase

    • Post the answer to the question in the DM or channel where the search was initiated.
