Overview
The number of customers using third-party risk management (TPRM) solutions, and the number of questionnaires processed by these solutions, continues to grow.
SafeBase's Chrome Extension helps reduce friction when answering questionnaires in these portals by enabling SafeBase users to search their Knowledge Base without leaving the portal. This feature is available to all customers via the Chrome Web Store.
The Chrome Extension functions with or without SafeBase's AI Questionnaire Answering (AIQA) service enabled.
For all customers: A simple Knowledge Base search function is available.
For AIQA customers: The Chrome extension can be used to answer questions via content in a Trust Center & Knowledge Base, create new questionnaires, and fill in answers directly within third-party questionnaire portals.
Supported Portals
The Chrome Extension can be used on the following portals, including where these portals may have multiple pages or steps of the questionnaire.
Note: SafeBase does not perform real-time monitoring of these third-party portals, and they may make periodic changes to their user interfaces that could affect how the Chrome Extension behaves. Your mileage may vary!
If you encounter any issues with the Chrome Extension on one of these portals, please reach out to our Support team and provide as many specific details as possible, including the questionnaire name, portal link, and full screenshots of both the portal and the extension panel showing any error messages. It can also help if the Chrome browser console is open to the Console tab.
In most cases, SafeBase will request that you provide access for our team to the third-party portal to attempt to reproduce the issue.
The Chrome Extension will show error messages when you attempt to use it on an unsupported portal.
Download and Updates
The SafeBase Chrome extension can be downloaded from the Google Chrome Web Store here.
Click Add to Chrome, then Add Extension - The extension will now be available in your browser.
The extension is updated automatically whenever a release occurs. However, if any issues are being experienced, or if a more proactive approach would like to be taken, users can paste chrome://extensions/ in the Chrome URL bar, which will open the Extensions Manager. Navigate to the top right corner and enable Developer Mode. Once enabled, users can manually force an update check for all Chrome extensions.
Opening the Chrome Extension
Note: Organization members must be logged into SafeBase to utilize the Chrome Extension.

Using the Chrome Extension
Searching the Trust Library or Asking the SafeBase AI
The Chrome Extension enables easy searching of the Trust Library for quick access to Knowledge Base entries, Documentation, Controls, and Trust Center content.
Searching the Trust Library
In the Chrome Extension, click the Search tab.
Enter a question or search term in the search bar and press Enter
Optionally, filters for Product (for multi-product Trust Centers) and Type of Source (Knowledge Base, Document, Trust Center Item, Controls, and Trust Center Updates) can be used.
Users can alternatively highlight text on the page, like a Question, and select Search with SafeBase
Results will show up in the area below, complete with their Source, Product, and a preview of the contents. Clicking any of results will take the user to that information within SafeBase.
Asking the SafeBase AI
If users would like the SafeBase AI to generate an answer based on available sources, click the Ask SafeBase AI modal to start the process.
Note: This is currently limited to a single Product for multi-product Trust Centers.
Clicking View sources will let users see the AI’s citations of the Trust Library, and clicking the one of the Answer Sources, takes them to that information in SafeBase.
Creating or working on a Questionnaire from a third-party portal
If an organization is using AI Questionnaire Assistance, the Chrome Extension can also be used to assist with work on Questionnaires created from third-party portals.
Note: Users must have appropriate Org Member permissions to create or work on Questionnaires in the Chrome Extension. Additionally, the organization must have Generative AI enabled in your SafeBase Settings.
Creating a new Questionnaire
Open the Chrome Extension the website with the Questionnaire form.
Select the Create new option to start a new questionnaire from scratch
Choose the appropriate Account from the dropdown menu.
If the account does not yet exist, users will first need to create the account within the SafeBase platform.
(Optional) If the organization uses multiple products, select the corresponding Product from its dropdown menu.
In the Display Name field, enter a descriptive name for the questionnaire. This will help the user and the organization identify it later.
Once all fields are complete, click Continue.
On the next screen, select Process Questions.
The Questionnaire will then start processing. Users can click View in SafeBase to see the progress in the Questionnaires section of the app.
Opening an existing Questionnaire
Navigate to the website with the Questionnaire form.
Select the Work on existing questionnaire option.
Click the Questionnaire dropdown menu. Users can either scroll to find the questionnaire or type in the search bar to filter the list.
Select the questionnaire that needs to be worked on.
Click Continue to load the questionnaire.
Working on a Questionnaire in the Chrome Extension
Once a questionnaire has been processed, the extension will display the results directly.
Users can review the Questions from the portal and the corresponding Answers generated by SafeBase AI. If any internal comments were added, they will also be visible here.
Users can easily copy the answers or comments for each Question by using the Copy button by each result.
Finally, users can open the full questionnaire at any time by clicking View in SafeBase in the top right corner of the Extension or any answer to modify or review the Questionnaire in the app.
Autofilling Questionnaire Answers
If users are working in a supported third-party portal, the Autofill available card will appear at the top to assist in filling in the answers for the Questionnaire back into the form.
Click the Autofill portal button.
SafeBase will automatically fill all the generated responses back into the questionnaire form on the web page
Tips for optimal usage
Ensure the users is logged into the correct SafeBase account to access the appropriate Trust Library.
Double-check the display name of the Questionnaire to avoid confusion.
Use the autofill feature whenever possible to save time.
Stay familiarized with the filtering options to streamline searches.
Regularly check for updates to the Chrome extension for new features.
