Branding - Custom Email Notifications

Transactional emails sent from the Trust Center can be customized with company branding and a custom sender / return email

Written by Matt Szczurek

Overview

Custom Email Notifications are a feature that allows transactional emails from Trust Centers to be sent with custom branding. This customization applies specifically to customer-facing emails sent from a Trust Center, to an account member or subscriber.

  • Trust Center Updates

  • Access request denials and approvals

  • Customers who are manually invited to the Trust Center

  • Customers reclaiming access to the Trust Center

Internal vs Customer-Facing Emails

There are two distinctions between email notifications:

  • Internal Notifications: These emails are sent to an organization’s internal users. These notifications always use Drata's branding and are sent from notification@safebase.co.

  • Customer-Facing Emails: These are transactional messages sent from the Trust Center to customers. These emails can be customized to align with the organization’s branding.

Note: A Trust Center must have a Custom URL submitted (not necessarily published) before Email Notifications can be branded.

Default configuration

  • Emails will be sent from an email with the prefix "notifications" followed by the Trust Center's Custom URL.

    • Example: notifications@trust.company.com

  • The Sender Name will be the title of the Trust Center

    • Example: Company Trust Center or Company Security Portal

Note: Please see Custom Email Examples for samples of how these transactional emails will appear in the customer's inbox.

    • In the case that someone replies, the message will go to the organization instead of the Trust Center support team.

  • This can be input via hex, RGB, or HSL codes.

Send a Preview Email

Note: If an email security or quarantine tool (e.g. Proofpoint, Mimecast, Abnormal AI, etc.) is in place, create an allow-list entry or exception rule for the from name and from email.

  • The From Name is the Trust Center name. Review this in Trust Center Editor -> Trust Center Settings button in the upper right -> Appearance tab -> Trust Center Title box.

  • The From Address is generally notifications@<your custom URL>.

This will ensure these notifications are received without interruption.

Navigate to the Trust Center tab in Settings, at the bottom of the Trust Center Email Notifications, click Send yourself a preview email

The user that clicked the button can check their email for a sample [TEST] Preview SafeBase Notification
